Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time, for we are hosting a Maggot Brain re-release party in the record shop on Friday, September 11th at 5PM.

Sidebar here: in NOLA a few weeks back, we got to see a panel discussion / presentation with Catherine Vericolli and Dave Gardner - the engineers who (1) located the original master tapes for this foundational album, which had been thought to be lost to time; (2) restored and rescued them from mold that had accumulated over presumably 50+ years of rotting away in an unmarked white box; and (3) remastered the album using vintage gear on loan from Third Man (and IIRC, a board that belonged to Berry Gordy/Motown?) and employed some kinda modern time-correction techniques to cut this new remaster at the proper speed for the first time ever. According to the engineers, literally every other version - including the OG vinyl pressings - play at the wrong speed. Was some of the coolest, nerdiest, most heroic shit I've ever heard in my life.

Anyways, MAGGOT BRAIN. All-analog reissue. We're gonna check it out and we're gonna give away some stuff and give you some stuff with the record and I think do a raffle, as we do. It's a dbl listening party announcement kinda day, and we're pretty sure a lot of you won't mind the barrage...the 4th Beabadoobee album ~PYLON~ is coming out on September 18th, but we're gonna spin it in the record shop a week early-ish at 2PM on Saturday, September 12th. We'll have some freebie buttons and stickers for all until we don't, and someone's gonna win a test pressing of the album in the raffle. Preorders are up for the indie shop exclusive "oyster-color" vinyl, standard green vinyl, and CD over at 10000HzRECORDS.COM if you just can't wait. See you there or see you before.

Yeehaw, pals...the new Orville Peck album ~MULE~ is out September 18th but we're gonna take it for a ride a few days early in the record shop at 2PM on Sunday, September 13th. Sounds like we'll have some posters and buttons for all until we don't, some totes to go with your copies of the album if you're preordering it at this event, and one lucky duck is gonna win a fancy trucker hat in the raffle. Should be a good time, right?
